Collection of Bulky Items
Collection of Bulky Items
Where disposal in a household waste site is not practical because of an items size, you can arrange to have it collected.
This service helps you with items which you may find difficult to deliver to your local recycling and waste centre because they do not fit in a typical car.
What we will collect?
- Any large and bulky waste items such as three piece suites, beds, sideboards and other free standing cupboards etc;
- Any large and bulky recyclable items such as large metal appliances like fridges, washing machines, freezers, cookers etc.
Cookers and Washing machines etc. can also be collected from householders, even if they do not contain CFC's or other dangerous materials, under our bulk items collection scheme any large metal items collected from residents will be taken and recycled.
What we don't collect
This service does not include:
- Clearance of garden waste,
- Building rubble
- Waste from household renovations (fitted kitchens, fixtures and fittings, replacement windows)
- Televisions
Fridges, Freezers, TV's and Portable Air Conditioning equipment containing CFC's (Chlorofluorocarbon) can be disposed of in the Borough's household waste sites, they are then de-gassed and as much material as possible extracted for recycling, alternatively these types of item can be collected by Swale Borough Council.
If you would like advise on how to dispose of the above items please contact our Customer Services Team.
How Much is it?
There is a charge for this service which is £16.80 for up to 4 bulky/metal items or £16.80 per white good, however there are a few exceptions so please call Customer Services on 01795 417850 for more details.
When are the items collected?
Please telephone our Customer Services team on (01795) 417850 at least one week before you need the item collecting so that we can:
- Book your items in for collection and confirm a collection time;
- Confirm that we can take all items (as there are some restrictions).
Items will need to be left outside for collection. Where possible, please ensure that items are left outside the evening before collection and are accessible and not blocking roads or pavements.
